Riots Broke out in London Over Police Shooting

It’s a Violent four days in Tottenham in North London as people rioted over the shooting of a man by Metropolitan (London) Police. From the A.P.via My Way News:

New unrest erupted on north London’s streets late Sunday, a day after rioting and looting in a deprived area amid community anger over a fatal police shooting.

Police deployed extra officers on London’s streets to prevent a repeat of Saturday’s violence in north London’s Tottenham area, which appeared to be quiet Sunday night.

But disturbances broke out in Enfield, about 5 miles (8 kilometers) north of Tottenham. TV footage showed riot and mounted police patrolling the streets, and there were also images of smashed shop windows, and police with dogs detaining at least one man.

A peaceful protest against the killing of a 29-year-old man in Tottenham degenerated into a Saturday night rampage, with rioters torching a double-decker bus, destroying patrol cars and trashing a shopping mall in the nearby Wood Green district.

The death Black British man identified as Mark Duggan 29, father of four in Tottenham by Police:

The protest against the death of Mark Duggan, a father of four who was gunned down in disputed circumstances Thursday, was initially peaceful. But it got ugly as between 300 and 500 people gathered around Tottenham’s police station. Some protesters filled bottles with gasoline to throw at police lines, others confronted officers with makeshift weapons – including baseball bats and bars – and attempted to storm the station.

The Regime Strikes Back: Mubarak Hired Goons Attack Protesters

Just after five days Egyptian President Honsi Mubarak sent in paid hired goons to attack protesters in Tahair Square in Cairo on Wednesday which led to five death and out cries from world leaders including Pres. Barack Obama, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron and Human Right groups. From CNN:

It started with verbal abuse, and then — perhaps inevitably — it got physically, terrifyingly violent.

Supporters of Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak flooded into Cairo’s Tahrir Square Wednesday after the president’s opponents dominated the scene for more than a week.

Separated at first by barriers, the rival demonstrators exchanged insults, then began throwing anything they could find at each other, including shoes, rocks and sticks.

Suddenly the barriers came down. People surged toward each other in a chaotic scene that conjured images of a revolution.

Digging up bricks to use as weapons

Protesters hurt in Tahrir Square

Shots fired, vehicles overturned

Some injured protesters fell. Others stumbled through the crowd. Blood streamed down the faces of the wounded. A few women away from the front line gave the injured water and swabbed at their wounds.

Many of the injuries were serious, even though demonstrators wrapped sweatshirts and other clothes around their heads to protect themselves from flying stones.

Dozens of wounded were carried away, bleeding from gashes. It was impossible to tell from visits to a makeshift clinic which side was faring worse, CNN’s Ben Wedeman said. He said simply: “They are all Egyptians.”

A mosque served as a makeshift field hospital, staffed by volunteer doctors, he said.

The day was spotted with scenes of brutality. At one point, bloodied men from the pro-regime side were dragged toward the center of Tahrir Square by anti-government demonstrators who beat and kicked them along the way. One man ripped out the hair of one of the captives.

Police were nowhere to be seen.

Tucson Shooter Is a Left-Wing Bush Hating Whack Job

Tucson Shooter turns out to be a Left-Wing Bush hating whack job. 22 year-old Jared Loughner is Leftist anti-government kook, Hated…(Wait for it)…..(Now)GEORGE W. BUSH! From the New York Times:

Moments after the swirl of panic, blood, death and shock, the suspect was face down on the pavement and squirming under the hold of two civilians, his shaved head obscured by a beanie and the hood of his dark sweatshirt.

Deputy Sheriff Thomas Audetat, a chiseled former Marine with three tours in Iraq to his credit, dug his knee into the gangly young man’s back and cuffed him. With the aid of another deputy, he relieved the heroic civilians of their charge and began searching for weapons other than the Glock semiautomatic pistol, secured nearby under a civilian’s foot, that had just fired 31 rounds.

In the left front pocket, two 15-round magazines. In the right front pocket, a black, four-inch folding knife. “Are there any other weapons on you?” Deputy Audetat recalled demanding.

“Back right pocket.”

But the back right pocket contained no weapons. Instead, in a Ziploc bag, the deputy found about $20 in cash, some change, a credit card and, peeking through the plastic as if proffering a calling card, an Arizona driver’s license for one Jared Lee Loughner, 22.

Deputy Audetat lifted the passive, even relaxed suspect to his feet and led him to the patrol car, where the man twisted himself awkwardly across the back seat, face planted on the floor board. Then he invoked an oddly timed constitutional right. “I plead the Fifth,” Mr. Loughner said, though the deputy had no intention of questioning him. “I plead the Fifth.”

Later in the article give the readers clues into Loughner mind and he hated President George W. Bush:

He became intrigued by antigovernment conspiracy theories, including that the Sept. 11 attacks were perpetrated by the government and that the country’s central banking system was enslaving its citizens. His anger would well up at the sight of President George W. Bush, or in discussing what he considered to be the nefarious designs of government.

“I think he feels the people should be able to govern themselves,” said Ms. Figueroa, his former girlfriend. “We didn’t need a higher authority.”

Breanna Castle, 21, another friend from junior and senior high school, agreed. “He was all about less government and less America,” she said, adding, “He thought it was full of conspiracies and that the government censored the Internet and banned certain books from being read by us.”

Among the books that he would later cite as his favorites: “Animal Farm,” “Fahrenheit 451,” “Mein Kampf” and “The Communist Manifesto.” Also: “Peter Pan.”

Tucson Shooting Victim Threatens Local Tea Party on National News Program

This is interesting, a victim of the January 8th shooting at a Tucson Safeway shopping center made death threat against a member of the Tucson area Tea Party member on a ABC News Special. From MSNBC:

A Tucson mass shooting victim was taken into custody Saturday after yelling “you’re dead” at a Tea Party spokesman during the taping of an ABC-TV town hall event hosted by Christianne Amanpour.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said J. Eric Fuller, 63, was involuntarily committed to an undisclosed medical facility, NBC News reported. The Associated Press said he was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.

He faces charges of threats and intimidation and disorderly conduct, according to Tucson TV station KGUN.

The gathering for “After the Tragedy: An American Conversation Continued,” to be shown as a special edition of “This Week” Sunday, included witnesses, first responders, victims and heroes of the Jan. 8 mass shooting that killed six and wounded 13 others, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz.

Local officials and others also packed St. Odilia’s Catholic Church in northwest Tucson, where the show was taped.

President Obama Comforts Nation at Tucson Memorial Service

On Wednesday, President Obama spoke to the tens of thousands gathered at the McKale Center at the University Arizona. AP via Yahoo News:

Summoning the soul of a nation, President Barack Obama on Wednesday implored Americans to honor those slain and injured in the Arizona shootings by becoming better people, telling a polarized citizenry that it is time to talk with each other “in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds.” Following a hospital bedside visit with Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the target of the assassination, he said: “She knows we’re here, and she knows we love her.”

In an electrifying moment, the president revealed that Giffords, who on Saturday was shot point-blank in the head, had opened her eyes for the first time shortly after his hospital visit. First lady Michelle Obama held hands with Giffords’ husband, Mark Kelly, as the news brought soaring cheers from thousands gathered for a memorial service.

Obama bluntly conceded that there is no way to know what triggered the shooting rampage that left six people dead, 13 others wounded and the nation shaken. He tried instead to leave indelible memories of the people who were gunned down, and to rally the country to use the moment as a reflection on the nation’s behavior and compassion.

“I believe we can be better,” Obama said to a capacity crowd in the university’s basketball arena and to countless others watching around the country.

“Those who died here, those who saved lives here — they help me believe,” the president said. “We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another is entirely up to us.”

Read it all!

Unreal!:Michelle Malkin say the Memorial Service has been branded  “Together We Thrive Tucson and America”  with banner spread around the arena at U of AZ. Blue and White T-Shirts were given away!

Here go again, What is it with the Democrats that memorial services and tributes turn in political rallies a la Sen. Paul Wellstone circa 2002. Shameless. Utterly and completely shameless.
