Well it finally happened, U.S. sues Arizona over S.B. 1070 Tuesday. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder the case saying “Setting immigration policy and enforcing immigration laws is a national responsibility,” in a statement.Arizona, the Justice Department said, “crossed a constitutional line.”
The Federal Government said the law inhibited the President of United States to direct immigration policy. The bill put undue pressure on Federal Government,local and state authorities resources.
S.B. 1070 takes effect on July 29th. The Administration consulted police agencies, civil rights groups and local officials.
The makes the crime victims and witness feel:”less likely to contact or cooperate with law enforcement”if the do not provide documentation when police question people if they commit a crime.
