Conservative US Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) announces his retirement from congress Monday citing frustrating lack of bipartisanship by Democrats and Republicans.
Bayh who announce in Indianapolis with his family by his side. Bayh made a courtesy call to President Obama with his intentions to leave Washington, DC.
“I love helping our citizens make the most of their lives, but I do not love Congress,” Bayh said.
The Irony is Bayh was leading in double digits against his closest rival. Two weeks ago former US Senator Dan Coates who Bayh defeated 12 years ago announce that his is seeking to return to his seat.
The resignation show the difficulty in getting President Obama domestic agenda through. The Democrat majorities in both the US House of Representatives and US Senate should have meant wins in policy. But failures of the stimulus, bailouts of banks , ownership of car companies, Cap and trade energy tax and health care schemes and; strong Republican and opposition by the American people has led to election victories by the GOP in governorships in Virginia , New Jersey and senate seat in Massachusetts.
The Cook Political Report the nations leading political source said on Monday afternoon said Indiana went from leaning Democratic to leaning Republican.
