Global Warming once a rallying cry for the environmentalist movement is turning in to a whimper. Scandal after scandal has blown up in the movements collective faces; global warming and/or climate change has become the greatest hoax in world history.
In 2007, The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a report that by 2035 the glaciers on the Himalayan Mountains would be destroyed if the world did not stop climate change. Last December, a spokesman for the World Wildlife Fund, an environmental pressure group, warned, “The deal reached at Copenhagen will have huge ramifications for the lives of hundreds of millions of people who are already highly vulnerable due to widespread poverty.”
What was wrong because the IPCC based its data a graduate student paper The problem is the glacier would melt in 2335 three hundred years later. and a report by the World Wildlife Fund used anecdotal evidence to prove its case not on scientific data. That state the glaciers would cause flooding to a major river basin in India China, Nepal south central Asia then eventual drought affecting one billion people.
The report was not peer-reviewed. The IPCC chief Rajendra Pachauri dismissed the news . Now environmental and scientific communities say that IPCC has lost all credibility.
“The global warming movement as we have known it is dead,” the brilliant analyst Walter Russell Mead says in his blog on The American Interest. It done in by a mixture of bad science and bad politics.
Recent Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen which signal urgent action to stop global warming. But the truth there was no deal in the works to stop it .
As Mr. Mead writes, “The global warming movement proposed a complex set of international agreements involving vast transfers of funds, intrusive regulations in national economies, and substantial changes to the domestic political economies of most countries on the planet.”
Meanwhile, the e-mail scandals involving the once respected Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University in the United Kingdom director Dr. Phil Jones was hiding and manipulating facts to foster their own ideas The e-mails were stolen from the University and placed on websites in Russia and around the world in September. This week the Guardian Newspaper in the UK found that data was from Chinese weather stations were manipulated with and some was deleted and documents were missing.
The Times of London investigative reporters review a report that the Amazon rain forest would wiped out if it slightest decrease rainfall. The Times found the report was written by a couple of climate activists one who worked for World Wildlife Fund. The paper talked a scientist who is specialist in tropical forest ecology, said the report is “a mess.”
Dr. Pachauri own firm Energy and Resources Unit, based in New Delhi,India has collected millions for the study of glacial melting based on phony science. The scientist who wrote the report runs the unit that made off with money. Pachauri defends the work blaming corporate interest who losing money.
Thanks environmentalists who crossed the line Global Warming has been weak and not taken seriously as it once was. Mr. Mead puts it this way: “Skeptics up, Obama down, cap-and-trade dead.” That also goes for Canada, whose climate policies are inevitably tied to those of the United States.
“I don’t think it’s healthy to dismiss proper skepticism,” says John Beddington, the chief scientific adviser to the British government. He is a staunch believer in man-made climate change, but he also points out the complexity of climate science. “Science grows and improves in the light of criticism. There is a fundamental uncertainty about climate change prediction that can’t be changed.” Now the truth told so the science must be independently reviewed and activism toned down so the truth may come forth.
