LA’s MTA Seeks Federal Funds for Proposed to Finish Purple Line

LA Times: The MTA seeking Federal funds to complete the Purple Line. The 8 mile line will finishes the line when it began in early 199o’s from Downtown LA to Santa Monica. The line was stopped at Western Ave at Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown due to factors on West side residents didn’t want a train throw the area and second in 1989 a methane gas explosion cause city, county and federal officials to killed off the line.

The project that is being spearheaded by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The MTA also wants to create a connecting rail through Downtown Los Angeles between the Metro’s Blue Line and Gold Line. They hope to get approval for 2011.
