Breaking News: The Federal Bureau of Investigations and New York Police Department held a joint raid on Homes in Queens,NY a part of a investigation into terrorism focus on one person. Two Apartments were looked into one shared by five Afghan men. Some of the men were taken into companies. One man told Reuters.
Congress have been notified. “There was nothing imminent, and they are very good now at tracking potentially dangerous actions and this was preventive,” said Senator Charles Schumer(D-NY). Schumer was one of the members of Congress notified by the FBI.
FBI identified on suspect as Amanullah Akbar, a 30 year old Taxi Cab driver. Akbar says he was awakened by the FBI at 2:30 in the morning. He was placed in the custody and then released. He says doesn’t know why was question.
Neighbors were alarmed when the FBI show up in their neighborhood. On person Melissa Khan ,28 was frightened of what she saw. FBI agents came in with what Khan describes agents with machine guns.
“It was scary. I wasn’t going to stop the FBI and ask them what was going on,” said, Khan.
The New York Times says cites unnamed law enforcement officials said Authorities discovered a small group of people who held a radical views infused by AL Qaeda.
The police said there no specific targets on nor a plot, but the suspicious behavior had causes concern.
Representative Peter King (R-NY) said told ABC News that, “He (the main suspect) was being watched and concern grew as he met with a group of individuals in Queens over the weekend.”
“The FBI went to court late last night for an emergency warrant to conduct the raids this morning,” ABC quoted King as saying.
